Custom embroidery files for Brother machines
Brother embroidery machines use the PES format. Home models such as the SE600 (4"×4" hoop) and the PE800, PE900 and SE2000 (5"×7") need designs sized within their hoop, while PR multi-needle machines read both PES and DST and take larger designs and caps. We deliver PES sized to your model.

Designing for a Brother home machine
- Hoop size is the hard limit. We size your design to fit with a small safety margin.
- Fewer color changes: on a single-needle machine every color means rethreading, so we combine similar shades where the design allows.
- Reasonable stitch counts: a 5"×7" design with 40,000 stitches takes a long time on a home machine. We keep density efficient.
- Brother thread colors: PES colors are mapped to Brother's embroidery thread palette so the screen matches your spools as closely as possible.
Brother PR multi-needle
PR machines (such as the PR680W and PR1055X) are popular with small shops. They read PES and DST, support cap frames and handle larger designs. We digitize PR files like commercial files, with cap-specific versions where needed. See cap digitizing.
Troubleshooting file loading
- Design doesn't appear: make sure the file is unzipped and on a FAT32 USB stick. Some older models only see files at the top level.
- "Pattern too large": the design exceeds your hoop. Tell us your model and we'll resize it properly.
- Wrong colors on screen: you probably loaded a DST (which has no colors). Use the PES instead.
