Why left chest logos are harder than they look
Most company logos were designed for a website or letterhead, not for 3.5 inches of thread. Fine lines, thin serif fonts, gradients and taglines that look sharp on screen can't be reproduced with a 0.4 mm-thick thread. A good digitizer doesn't just trace the logo. They decide what has to change for it to read clearly on a polo.
- Small text: we convert thin lettering to satin columns at least 1 mm wide, open the counters (the holes in e, a and o) and adjust letter spacing so words don't run together.
- Fine lines: hairlines under about 1 mm become running or bean stitches, or are thickened where the logo allows.
- Gradients: these are rebuilt as blended fills or separate thread colors.
- Taglines that are too small to stitch are flagged before we start, with a suggestion (drop it, enlarge it, or change the font).
Built for the fabric you're sewing
The same logo needs a different file for a pique polo and for a fleece jacket:
- Pique knit polos: the waffle texture swallows light stitches, so we use a solid underlay grid and slightly higher pull compensation. A cutaway stabilizer is recommended.
- Performance and dri-fit polos: these stretchy, thin fabrics pucker easily. We lower density, use lighter fills and avoid large solid areas where we can.
- Fleece and soft shell: a light tack-down underlay flattens the nap, and a water-soluble topping is recommended so stitches don't sink.
- Twill and oxford dress shirts: stable fabrics allow standard density and the finest detail.
Tell us the garment when you order. If you don't know it yet, we'll digitize for a pique polo, the most common choice, and you can ask for an adjustment later for free.
Need the same logo on a cap?
A cap front isn't just a left chest logo enlarged. It sews on a curved surface, center-out, on a cap frame. We'll make a separate cap version for +50% of the tier price, so both placements sew properly. See cap digitizing.

Height depends on the logo's shape. A tall square logo is usually limited to about 2.5"–3" high so it doesn't look oversized.

What size should a left chest logo be?
Most left chest logos are 3.5" to 4" wide on men's shirts and 3" to 3.5" on women's. Tell us the width you want. If you're unsure, we'll size it at 3.5".
How many stitches is a left chest logo?
Usually 5,000 to 10,000 stitches. A text-only logo might be 3,000–5,000, and a logo with a solid filled background can reach 12,000 or more.
Can you include the company name under the logo?
Yes, as long as it's at least about 0.25" tall. If it would be smaller, we'll suggest a layout that keeps it readable.
Do I need a separate file for my caps?
Yes, we strongly recommend one. Caps sew on a curved frame and need different sequencing and underlay. A cap version costs 50% of the tier price.
